Some or all of the information on this page is about currently unreleased content. Information is subject to change.

This page lists all characters which appear in the game but are not obtainable through prayers. These characters may be unnamed or see changes in their identity, and they may or may not become Friends in the future.

This page contains story spoilers, including spoilers for the Japanese version of the game.

PC-98 era

A variety of characters originating from the PC-98 era of official Touhou Project games are encountered in several of Touhou LostWord's storylines. As of now, none of them are obtainable and whether they ever will be is unknown.

Highly Responsive to Prayers

Highly Responsive to Prayers is the first game in the Touhou Project franchise. The characters originating from this game are Reimu Hakurei and Mima.

Reimu Hakurei is first encountered alongside PC-98 Marisa Kirisame. She is briefly known as "???A" but proceeds to introduce herself as Reimu Hakurei, the Shrine Maiden Who Protects Dreams and Tradition (夢と伝統を保守する巫女). Her design seems to mix elements from the different PC-98 games, but the most notable features differing from Reimu's modern design are the purple hair and more traditional shrine maiden outfit, though her red hakama is replaced by a skirt.

Mima is only playable as part of a duo with Maribel Hearn. The Unit itself does not mention her name and is instead called Maribel Hearn (LM1), but she is indirectly referred to as Evil Spirit through Maribel's title and third voice option. However, in Divergent Spirits, she is called Mima (LM1).

Story of Eastern Wonderland

Story of Eastern Wonderland is the second game in the Touhou Project franchise. The characters originating from this game are Rika and Marisa Kirisame.

Rika is only present as a replacement for Lossy's point of view in certain Ruins of Memory stories. As such, she has not yet been seen in person.

Marisa Kirisame is first encountered alongside PC-98 Reimu Hakurei. She is briefly known as "???B" before Reimu introduces her, and Marisa's introduction card reveals her title, A Being Made of Magic and Scarlet Dreams (魔法と紅夢からなる存在).

Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream

Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream is the third game in the Touhou Project franchise. The characters originating from this game are Chiyuri Kitashirakawa and Yumemi Okazaki. The duo appears in Ruins of Memory and seem to be researching the L80 Universe.

Lotus Land Story

Lotus Land Story is the fourth game in the Touhou Project franchise. The characters originating from this game are Yuuka, Mugetsu and Gengetsu.

Yuuka currently only appears in cutscenes.

Mugetsu, much like Mima, is only playable as part of a duo with Maribel Hearn. The Unit itself does not mention her name and is instead called Maribel Hearn (LM1). In Divergent Spirits, she is called Mugetsu (LM1).

Gengetsu is only playable as part of a duo as well, this time with Renko Usami. The Unit itself does not mention her name and is instead called Renko Usami (LR1). In Divergent Spirits, she is called Gengetsu (LR1).

Mystic Square

Mystic Square is the fifth game in the Touhou Project franchise and the final game of the PC-98 era. The characters originating from this game are Alice, Yumeko and Shinki.

Alice and Yumeko currently only appear in cutscenes.

Shinki is only playable as part of a duo with Renko Usami. The Unit itself does not mention her name and is instead called Renko Usami (LR1), but she is indirectly referred to as Makai God through Maribel's title and third voice option. In Divergent Spirits, she is called Shinki (LR1).

Windows era

Rinnosuke Morichika, also known as the Store Owner of Kourindou (香霖堂店主) and Kourin is a recurring minor character in Touhou LostWord. He does not take part in battles and is usually found in his store, Kourindou, like in the official manga installments. In Touhou LostWord, he is in charge of the Kourindou Roulette and is known to provide the outfits worn by characters who have gone through Fantasy Rebirths.

Miyoi Okunoda, also known as The Poster Girl of Geidontei, The Fantasy Pub (夢幻酒場『鯢呑亭』の看板娘), is a youkai waitress. Although she is seen in her usual outfit in the C3 Universe before changing into the outfit worn by Miyoi Okunoda (C3), it is unlikely that she is the same Miyoi as the one encountered in story episodes taking place in the L1 Universe.

Keine Kamishirasawa's hakutaku form seen in the Extra Stage of Imperishable Night has made an appearance, though whether she will become her own unit, a costume, or something else entirely is unknown.

Lastly, three out of five of the characters introduced in Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost appear in the 21st Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai Story Card. The characters in question are Son Biten, Enoko Mitsugashira and Chiyari Tenkajin.

ZUN's Music Collection

ZUN's Music Collection is the collective name given to ZUN's non-game soundtrack CDs. There are currently twelve volumes, all but two featuring original stories. From volume two onwards, these stories recount the adventures of the Hifuu Club, an unusual occult club currently led by two university students named Renko Usami and Maribel Hearn.

Renko Usami and Maribel Hearn are humans from a near future in the Outside World and the protagonists of the Hifuu LostWord story arcs. Both of them are playable through their respective LR1 Universe and LM1 Universe incarnations, but due to being duo units, it is unclear whether they originally belong to the L1 Universe. This would make them the only playable units without L1 counterparts, in addition to Miyoi Okunoda.

Non-playable LostWord originals

A sizeable amount of characters have been featured in cutscenes, with varying degrees of backstory revealed about them.

Main Story

A majority of the non-playable alternate universe characters are encountered in the Eternal Battlefront acts. In prior chapters, the version of Yukari Yakumo known as the Tiny Great Youkai (小さな大妖怪) is the most notable one.

In the C3 Universe, a few characters with beach-themed designs make their debuts. Rinnosuke Morichika, also called Beach House Kourindou (海の家『こうりん堂』), still has an affinity for clothes-making, and is responsible for crafting swimsuits for the residents of the C3 Universe as long as they provide the right materials. In addition, Komachi Onozuka and Kasen Ibaraki are seen together.

Lastly, a version of Marisa Kirisame known as the Draconic Black Magic Knight (竜言語の黒魔法剣士) is revealed to be an important character to the overarching plot of the game. She seems to be the mastermind known as Lady of Shooting Stars (流星卿). She is also referred to as Dark Marisa in Night-Splitting Light. A previously encountered version of Eirin Yagokoro, known as the Wise Red and Blue Empress (緋蒼の賢帝), also gets a proper introduction.

She lists masterminds in a specific order, seemingly matching the order of appearance of characters from the casts of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Perfect Cherry Blossom, Immaterial and Missing Power (Suika Ibuki) and Imperishable Night, including even Reimu and Marisa.
